The Town is on the 2018 version of the International Building Code and 2020 National Electric Code.   Chapter 18 - Building Regulations of the Town Municipal Code can be referenced for more information.

SAFEbuilt, Inc. assists the Town with building services, including architectural review, inspections, and issuance of building permits.

To schedule an inspection or to find out the results of your inspection, please call 720-641-1956.

Our Simple Building Permit Application may only be used for One-Stop projects that do not need review. These items include Reroof, Air Conditioner or Furnace Replacements, Water Heaters, and Window Replacements. If your project does not fall into one of these categories, you must submit our regular Building Permit Application

Information on Business Licenses and Special Event Licensing is listed under Town Clerk.

For Permanent Sign Permits, please use our Sign Permit Application found below.

Feel free to submit all building and sign applications directly to: permits@townofelizabeth.org

Please note: We only issue building permits for addresses located within our Municipal Town limits. Any addresses outside of the Town limits will need to get their permit through Elbert County. (Most Town of Elizabeth addresses are 3-digit or 4-digit only. All 4-digit addresses currently start with a "1". However, just because it is 3 digits doesn't mean it is within Town limits.) Please feel free to email or call if you need to verify an address.

The Town does not require Contractor licensing or registration to pull a permit.

Commercial spaces are now required to submit a copy of their lease agreement with building permit applications.

See the chart below for the building permit and review fee schedule. * All permits will be subject to a 3% Town Use tax and a 1% County Use tax based on project valuation.* Additional fees may be required depending on the size and scope of the project.

***BUILDING PERMIT FEES SHALL BE DOUBLED AS A PENALTY FOR ANY CONSTRUCTION COMMENCED WITHOUT A BUILDING PERMIT***
