Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is responsible for providing planning services to the community.  Services include short and long range planning, zoning, building, economic development, and historic preservation.

Ongoing projects include:

• Main Street Streetscape final designs pending review based on engineering block by block analysis - Open House was held Thursday, August 24, 6:00-7:30 pm at Town Hall

          CORE Engineering presented Streetscape block by block analysis to the Board of Trustees on July 27, 2023.   Exhibit file is below.

• Historic Preservation through design guidelines and designation of a Historic District
• Design of Main Street gateway monument in process - Public Meeting was held Monday, August 14, 6:00-7:30 pm at Town Hall
• Old Town Circulation Study - Complete
• Community events planning 

The Community Development Department completed it's second year of participating in the Elizabeth High School internship program giving students an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience. Interns learn about current projects, assist the department digitizing data to improve efficiency as well as complete a student body survey that provides data for use by Planning staff.   Results of the 2023 survey are below.
