Black bear spotted roaming in Town of Elizabeth

June 17, 2020 (Elizabeth, CO) – A black bear was spotted roaming in the vicinity of Poplar Street and Tabor Street at about 11:00 AM this morning.  The chocolate-colored black bear is estimated to be about 60 pounds.  Officials from the Elizabeth Police Department and Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife are attempting to flush the bear away from the town as to avoid having to tranquilize the bear.  Officials will remain at the scene until the situation has been resolved.  The public is being asked to keep their distance from the bear.
