Liquor Licensing

All provisions for liquor licensing are in accordance with state statutes and liquor laws within the Town. The Town Clerk receives all applications for licenses and shall issue all licenses granted by the Town upon a completed application being filed, payment of all required fees, hearings and final approval by the local and the state licensing authority.

Liquor License applications along with rules and regulations can be found at the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Licensing Process

  • Obtaining a liquor license in the Town of Elizabeth is a privilege, and not a right.
  • Licenses are issued by "dual" licensing authorities in the State of Colorado.
  • All applications are submitted to the local authority and must be approved before being forwarded onto the State Liquor Enforcement Division.

How Long Does It Take To Get A Liquor License?

Applying for and being issued a liquor license generally takes 3-4 months. (This is with a basic license)
Plan accordingly and communicate with the Licensing Department far in advance of your projected opening date.

Decision Guidelines

New licenses are approved when it is demonstrated that the surrounding neighborhood “needs and desires” for a new license and that the moral character of the applicant is acceptable to the local and state licensing authorities.
