Purpose:

This policy describes the standards and guidelines by which the Town manages information on the Town of Elizabeth website.

Website Policy

The Town of Elizabeth operates and maintains the Town’s official website to provide citizens, businesses, and visitors with information about Town programs, services, projects, issues, events, and activities. This information is intended to offer quick, convenient, and easy access for those wishing to learn about the Town of Elizabeth. The Town website is administered and maintained by Town staff. Town Staff update the website regularly, and every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information provided on the site. The information is provided as a public service, and the Town of Elizabeth assumes no liability for any inaccuracies the website may contain. Please feel free to reach out to the Town Clerk’s office about any errors you discover on the website. Content is subject to change without notice from the Town as a result of updates and corrections.

Links Policy

The Town of Elizabeth may select links to outside websites that offer helpful resources for users. Links may include federal, state, or local government agencies or quasi-governmental organizations, libraries, school districts and other similar non-profit entities, as well as reference sites. These outside webpages are not under the control of the Town of Elizabeth. Users should be aware that these third-party sites and the information found on these sites are not controlled by, provided by, or endorsed by the Town of Elizabeth, and the Town is not responsible for the content that appears on these outside links. The Town provides these links as a convenience only. Users who access these sites do so of their own free will and at their own risk.

Links to external content on the Town of Elizabeth’s website will be permitted at the Town’s sole discretion and placed appropriately as determined by the Town of Elizabeth. The Town of Elizabeth reserves the right to disregard any outside link solicitations.

Removal of Links: Links to other websites may be removed or replaced at the sole discretion of the Town of Elizabeth at any time without notice.

Links by other entities to the Town of Elizabeth’s Website: It is not necessary to get advance permission to link to the Town of Elizabeth website. However, be aware that the website content and URLs may change at any time without notice. Entities and individuals linking to the Town of Elizabeth’s website may not capture any of the Town’s webpages within frames, present Town of Elizabeth content as their own, or otherwise misrepresent the Town of Elizabeth website content. Furthermore, they shall not misinform users about the origin or ownership of the Town of Elizabeth website content.

Usage Policy

The Town of Elizabeth’s website is intended specifically to share information about Town programs, events, and services. From time to time, we receive requests from outside agencies to include details on events coordinated by these outside agencies. Our policy is to include information only on those events and programs that are coordinated and/or sponsored by the Town of Elizabeth. Any exceptions to this usage will only be considered by and with express permission from the Town Administrator. We encourage users to create an account and post their events on the Elizabeth Main Street website found at www.elizabethmainstreet.org.

Town of Elizabeth Municipal Code Disclaimer

For the public’s convenience, the Town website includes an electronic version of the Town of Elizabeth municipal code provided through an outside link to MuniCode.com. While every attempt is made to keep the online version of the code current, the Town Board of Trustees periodically passes ordinances that supersede or modify the ordinances included in the online version. This site is intended for general reference only and should not be used in the preparation of official legal documents. Anyone using the online version of the Municipal Code is advised to contact the Town Clerk’s office with any questions regarding the code.

Privacy Policy

The privacy of the Town of Elizabeth’s website visitors is important to the Town. The Town will use the utmost discretion with the use of personal information obtained through the website. If a user sends the Town an electronic mail message that contains personally identifying information, or if a user fills out a form online, the Town will use this personal information to respond to a request. The Town may track the traffic patterns on its website from information automatically provided by the browsers of site visitors. This information is used by Town staff to analyze data, measure server performance, and improve the content of our website.

By using any website published and/or sponsored by the Town of Elizabeth, including any linked materials or other websites or pages from this site (collectively the “website”) the user agrees that any and all claims or disputes arising out of or in any way related to the website or materials/information obtained therefrom including but not limited to claims regarding website accessibility or accuracy of information, shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado and any lawsuit resulting therefrom shall be filed in District Court located in Elbert County, Colorado.
