Beginning March 16, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor HEI Civil will begin work to replace the bridge on CO 86 in Kiowa. This $5.1 million project is expected to be completed by winter 2026.

During construction, traffic will be shifted onto a temporary shoofly detour next to the bridge so crews can safely complete the work while keeping CO 86 open.

Please plan for changing traffic patterns, reduced speeds, and temporary detour conditions in the area. We encourage everyone to slow down, use extra caution, and watch for crews and signage.
