Town of Elizabeth Facade Grant Program - Enhancing Our Community's Charm, One Facade at a Time

Introduction

Welcome to the Town of Elizabeth Façade Grant Program! This initiative aims to support building and business owners within our community in enhancing their building facade, contributing to the beauty, charm, and historical preservation of our town.

Program Overview

The Façade Grant Program offers financial assistance to eligible properties within the designated boundary of the Town of Elizabeth. This program is designed to encourage improvements that enhance the visual appeal and historical character of our community.

Key Features:

  • Award Amounts: Ranging from $500 to $5,000
  • Matching Funds: 25% match for properties on the local historic register, or 50% match for other properties within the boundary
  • Eligible Improvements: Exterior painting, lighting, signage, windows, doors, and more

Eligibility Criteria

Properties Eligible for the Facade Grant Program:

  • Properties within the designated boundary of the Town of Elizabeth
  • Properties listed on the local historic register

Meeting Requirement with Historic Advisory Board:

Before submitting a final application, applicants must meet with the Historic Advisory Board to discuss their proposals and ensure they align with preservation best practices. Meeting dates are scheduled for May 6th and June 3rd at 4:30 pm. For scheduling or alternative arrangements, please contact the Community Development Department.

Next Application Period: January 1st - January 31st, 2025

Main Street America presented by American Express:  Backing Small Businesses

Supporting Economic Vitality for Small Business Owners

In partnership with American Express, the Backing Small Businesses grant program supports economically vulnerable and under-resourced small businesses with community reach and/​or cultural significance. This year, eligible small business owners can apply for $10,000 grants for projects that grow or improve their businesses by building community, supporting their economic viability, or bolstering meaningful change.

Applications will be accepted from March 14, 2024, through April 7, 2024, at 11:59 pm CT. The application period may end early if 5,000 applications have been submitted before the deadline.
