2006 International Residential Code

ALL INSPECTIONS CHECKED ON THE BUILDING PERMIT CARD AND ON THE INSPECTION CHECKLIST MUST BE CALLED FOR AND SIGNED BY A SAFEBUILT COLORADO INSPECTOR BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE NEXT PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION

 BUILDERS, CONTRACTORS AND PROPERTY OWNERS

 The following requirements must be met in order to obtain any building inspections per the requirements of the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC).

  1. The job site address must be posted (2006 IRC SECTION 321.1)

  2. The building permit card must be on site or made available at the time of inspection (2006 IRC SECTION 105.7)

  3. The approved site plan must be on site (2006 IRC SECTION 106.2)

  4. Approved blueprints including engineered foundation and truss designs shall be on the job site at all times (2006 IRC SECTION 106.3.1).

  5. All required inspections must be called for and approved by the inspector before proceeding with the next phase of construction (2006 IRC SECTION 109.4)

REQUIRED INSPECTIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION

  • Setbacks must be verified by an setback certificate

  • Footing and Foundation reinforcing steel (rebar) inspection. (If you choose, these inspections can be performed by the engineer of record with a report provided to SAFEbuilt Colorado.)**

  • Water service ***

  • Building Sewer ***

  • Perimeter Drain (If required per engineer, must be inspected by engineer)

  • Temporary construction meter

  • Underground plumbing

  • Underground Electrical ***

  • Rough-in plumbing

  • Rough-in electrical

  • Flues and vents

  • Rough-in framing*

  • Gas piping

  • Permanent electrical meter

  • Insulation Inspection

  • Shower Pan (If Applicable)

  • Drywall screw inspection

  • Final plumbing

  • Final electrical

  • Final heating

  • Final building*

* Note: Rough-in framing and final building will not be signed off until the plumbing, electrical, and heating work has been approved.

** Note: C/O will not be issued until all engineers’ inspection reports have been received.

*     Business License

        *        Cost: $10.00 on an annual basis.

        *        License: Any person shall complete a Business License Application and receive a business license that shall engage or be engaged in the operation, conduct or carrying on of any retail profession, trade or business within the Town. Any person operating, conducting or carrying on any retail trade, profession or business which contains or is composed of separate retail businesses shall secure individual licenses for each trade, profession or business.

        Business shall carry a license at all times when engaged in the operation, conduct or carrying on of any retail trade, profession or business for which the license was granted except that where such trade or business is operated, conducted or carried on.
